What SiteCalculators is for

SiteCalculators is a practical browser-based toolbox for foremen, supervisors, groundworkers, site managers, contractors, engineers and surveyors. The focused tools cover quantities, materials, loads, levels, setting out, groundworks, drainage, concrete and surveying checks. Each page is intended to solve a defined site or office task and explain the assumptions behind the answer.

The calculators provide independent mathematical checks. They do not issue design information, certify survey work, approve construction, interpret a specification or replace competent professional judgement.

How formulas are implemented

Reusable mathematical logic is kept separately from the page controls so one tested formula is not duplicated across several interfaces. Calculators use established geometry, trigonometry, coordinate and volume relationships. Coordinate tools state their convention explicitly: Easting is x, Northing is y, bearings run clockwise from North, and positive offset is left when looking from the baseline start towards its end.

Inputs are validated before a result is shown. Pages identify dimensional assumptions such as horizontal plan distance, uniform depth, straight alignments or convex geometry. Editable material densities and allowances are estimating inputs rather than certified product values; supplier, project or test data should replace them whenever available.

Testing and result checks

Formula changes are checked with automated Node test cases that include known examples, boundary conditions and invalid inputs. Structural checks review production pages for required metadata, canonical URLs, internal references, structured data and disabled advertising safeguards. Browser checks cover representative calculations, keyboard operation, accessibility, mobile layouts, print behaviour and production-only network controls.

Worked examples on calculator pages provide an additional reproducible sense check. Passing tests reduces avoidable errors but does not make a result suitable for every project, so users should independently check inputs, units, tolerances, controlled drawings and specifications.

Updates and corrections

Content and calculator changes are reviewed against the same conventions, then the relevant automated tests and production checks are rerun before release. Explanatory text is updated when an assumption, unit label or worked example could be clearer. Search wording may be refined to help people find the right existing tool, but substantial pages are not replaced with mass-generated or duplicate content.

To report a possible error, use the contact page and include the calculator name, every input, the result shown, the expected result and a non-sensitive worked example. Reports are reproduced against the underlying formula and tests before a correction is released. Do not email confidential client coordinates, drawings or project data.

Privacy by design

Coordinate text, sketches, delivery records and calculator inputs remain on the device. Selected tools can retain preferences, drafts or named work in browser storage and provide deliberate CSV or SVG exports; they do not upload that work. No user account is required. Cookieless Cloudflare Web Analytics reports aggregate page/path and performance data on the canonical production site without receiving calculator inputs.
