Worked cubic metres to cubic yards example
For a quantity of 10 m³, multiply by 1.307950619. The result is 13.079506 yd³ before any separate waste, bulking, compaction or supplier-ordering allowance. Converting that value back with the defined factor returns 10 m³ apart from display rounding.
Why density is a separate category
Density is mass divided by volume, so it cannot be converted using a mass-only factor. For example, pounds per cubic foot convert to kilograms per cubic metre using both the pound and cubic-foot definitions. Converting density does not make an indicative material density more accurate.
